Namegiving of newbuilding L 194 from Odense Steel Shipyard

The following announcement was issued by the Odense Steel Shipyard Ltd. on 20th November 2004 :
On Saturday 20 November 2004 Odense Steel Shipyard presented its newbuilding L 194 for Safmarine Container Lines N.V.
Mrs Andrea van Wyk, accompanied by her husband, Riaan van Wyk, Managing Director, Colors Fruit (Pty) Ltd, honoured the Owner by naming the newbuilding SAFMARINE NOMAZWE.

Captain Leon Peter Strydom, Mr Riaan van Wyk, Managing Director, Colors Fruit (Pty) Ltd, The Sponsor of SAFMARINE NOMAZWE, Mrs Andrea van Wyk and Mr Torben Anker Sørensen, Managing Director, Odense Steel Shipyard Ltd.
SAFMARINE NOMAZWE has a length of 266 metres, a breadth of 37 metres and a capacity of 3,700 twenty-foot containers. The ship has been built applying the latest available technology, making it one of the most modern container vessels in the world.
SAFMARINE NOMAZWE is equipped with an 8-cylinder HSD-Wärtsilä Sulzer diesel engine, which develops 45,700 kW at 102 revolutions per minute - equivalent to 62,200 BHP.
After delivery SAFMARINE NOMAZWE will enter into Safmarine Container Lines N.V.'s liner service between South Africa and Europe.
SAFMARINE NOMAZWE, which has a crew of 15, is registered in London and will be commanded by Captain Leon Peter Strydom with Stanley N. Broers as Chief Engineer.
More information will be provided when Safmarine Nomazwe is delivered and enters into full service
