PROFILE - SAFMARINE INVESTMENT IN NEW SHIPS - 2004-2012
Here's a quick recap of Safmarine's investment in modern new vessel tonnage.

  • 18 ships joined the fleet between 2004-2010:
  • 3 ships join the fleet in 2011 and
  • 6 more new ships are set to join the fleet in 2012.
That's a total of 27 ships delivered to Safmarine in only eight years! These new vessels are among the most modern in the industry today and, thanks to new technology, are far kinder to our environment.

  • Safmarine's parent company, the A.P. Moller-Maersk Group is a global leader in environmentally friendly shipping - the Group has invested and continues to invest millions in reducing the impact of its business on the environment.
  • All Safmarine owned container vessels are operated under ISO14001 certification. Our container vessels are managed by Maersk Line on behalf of Safmarine. The certification is a voluntary international standard through which companies establish, document, implement and continuously improve their environmental management systems. We have set a very ambitious 20% target for the relative reduction of CO2 emissions by reducing the fuel consumption of our owned fleet by 2017 (against our 2007 baseline).
