NEWS - ALL-NEW EUROPE-MIDDLE EAST-SOUTH ASIA SERVICE
Press Release Safmarine primed for launch of all-new Europe-Middle East-outh Asia Service 26th May 2003 Safmarine PRIME EXPRESS (Pakistan - Red Sea - IThe ndia - Middle East - Europe) to offer market-leading transit times and several new destinations. Safmarine is pleased to provide further details of its new Prime Express service effective eastbound week commencing 21st July and westbound week commencing 28th July 2003. According to Asia Trade Executive Paul de Coster, "The Safmarine Prime Express will provide our customers in India, Pakistan, the Gulf, Middle East and Europe with unmatchable coverage, speed and reliability." The direct, weekly - and in some cases twice weekly - calls will offer the fastest shipments for cargo in the trade, reducing some existing transit times by up to six days. For example, Antwerp to Nhava Sheva and Jebel Ali to Rotterdam will take only 20 days, Port Qasim to Bremerhaven just 17 days and Colombo to Le Havre, 14 days. New Safmarine European main line service calls will include Aahrus, Gothenburg and Le Havre in North-West Europe and Fos Sur Mer (Marseille), Valencia, Genova and Damietta in the Mediterranean. New direct calls at Jeddah and Colombo are also planned. A dedicated Safmarine shuttle service will be established between Salalah and Port Quasim, and an upgraded network of group feeders will open up fast connections to destinations such as Aqaba, Chennai and Kolkata. CEO Howard Boyd commented, "After consulting with our customers on their needs, the Safmarine Prime Express will use the best of our group network of pipelines, new vessel tonnage and know-how, and combine them with Safmarine's unique, personalised approach to offer an unbeatable product." The vessel-share agreement with sister company, Maersk Sealand will see Safmarine operating two of the six post-panamax vessels as part of the main liner service. The first of the two long-term chartered vessels, the Safmarine Antwerp - already known as the new 'Mega White' - is the largest vessel ever to be painted in Safmarine's distinctive white livery.
