CSI - FIFA 2010 LEGACY PROJECT
Safmarine is providing two 40 foot containers for a 'Sport in a Box' project which has the Stars in their Eyes Foundation as its key beneficiary. The containers are being refurbished to create a stand-alone sports centre (clubhouse, storage facility and grandstand) which will be placed at a school, filled with donated sporting equipment. The 'Sport in the Box' project will be officially opened during the FIFA World Cup on June 24, 2010.
Stars in their Eyes is a legacy project of the World Cup 2010 and is supported by the Provincial Government of the Western Cape, the Government of The Netherlands, the Embassy of The Netherlands in South Africa and the Ministry of Public Welfare, Health and Sports. To date the Stars in their Eyes project has trained 172 community leaders from 53 disadvantaged communities in the Western and Eastern Cape. Thirty-three Dutch football clubs have already been linked to these communities in South Africa as partners. The organisation's goal is to train 450 community leaders from 100 communities by 2011.
